Panini - Tour de France 2019

 

After three sticker collections of the Giro d'Italia, Panini starts in 2019 a series dedicated to the Tour de France. The album features the competing teams with special sections about the history, the route and the legend Eddy Merckx. The collection includes also a set of cards with the team shirts and some of the most famous climbs of the Tour de France.

The album begins with the contents and two introductory pages including the first two stickers: the Tour de France logo and trophy. Then there are three special sections dedicated to the jerseys of the race (4 stickers), the Tour de France records (4 stickers), and the 2019 route (1 sticker).

The album continues showing the 22 competing teams. For each team there are 16 stickers over two pages: the team photo (two stickers) and 14 riders. The last two teams (Arkea and Total Direct Energie) were invited after the publication of the album. Therefore, Panini left blank pages on the album to be filled with stickers of those two teams released in a specific update set, which includes 15 stickers and one card with the team shirt for both teams.

In the last part of the album we can find some special sections about the climbs and the cities of the 2019 Tour de France, and the history of the yellow jersey. In addition there are 11 stickers dedicated to Eddy Merckx and other riders that won the Tour de France at least five times (Anquetil, Hinault, and Indurain; thus excluding Lance Armstrong, who won 7 times but was later stripped of all the titles due to doping confession). 

As said above, the collection includes also a set of cards with team shirts and the Tour de France climbs. In each sticker packet there is one card and the complete set counts 42 cards that can be found in packets and two cards from the update set.
