Panini Fussball 2002 (Austria)

Panini Fussball Bundesliga 2002 is Panini’s sticker collection dedicated to Austrian domestic football for the 2001/2002 season, covering both the Bundesliga and the Erste Division. The album consists of 312 stickers and follows a very traditional Panini layout, typical of the early 2000s, without update sets, parallel collections, posters or card-based extras.

The album begins with a single introductory page celebrating the achievements of the previous season, showing Tirol Innsbruck as Austrian champions and Jürgen Gilewicz, also from Tirol, as the league’s top scorer of the 2000/2001 campaign.

The core of the collection is devoted to the 10 Bundesliga clubs, which are presented according to their final league position from the previous season rather than alphabetically. Each club is allocated four pages and 27 stickers: the shiny club badge, the home stadium, a team photo split into two stickers, five shiny action stickers highlighting key players in match situations, and 18 player portrait stickers included in the squad.

Once the Bundesliga teams are completed, the album briefly shifts focus away from club football with two dedicated sections. The first is devoted to the Austria National Team and features five stickers, consisting of a two-sticker team photograph and three action stickers representing Alfred Hörtnagl, Roland Kirchler, and Christian Mayrleb.

This is followed by the section titled “Österreichische Stars im Ausland”, which highlights Austrian players active outside the domestic league during the 2001/2002 season. Here, Panini includes five shiny action stickers featuring Harald Cerny (Munchen 1860), Dietmar Kühbauer (VfL Wolfsburg), Martin Stranzl (VfB Stuttgart), Andreas Herzog (Werder Bremen), and Markus Weissenberger (Eintracht Frankfurt).

The final portion of the album is dedicated to the Erste Division, which is presented in a more concise format. Each of the 10 second-tier clubs is represented by three stickers, consisting of a shiny club badge and a team photo divided into two stickers.

In sporting terms, the 2001/2002 Austrian Bundesliga season concluded with Tirol Innsbruck winning the league title, while the top goal scorer was Ronald Brunmayr of Grazer AK, who finished the season with 27 goals.
