Panini Football 94 (Switzerland)

Football 94 is Panini’s sticker collection dedicated to Swiss football for the 1993/1994 season, covering both the Ligue Nationale A and Ligue Nationale B. The album represents a welcome return for Panini after a six-year absence from Swiss league football, following the previous Football 88 collection. The cover features Swiss football star Stéphane Chapuisat.

The collection contains 272 stickers and follows a straightforward structure typical of Panini albums from the early 1990s. It opens with an introductory page featuring the contents and a four-sticker composition of the Swiss National Team

The main section is dedicated to the 12 clubs of Ligue A, presented in alphabetical order. Each club occupies two pages and contains 19 stickers. The layout includes the shiny club badge, the coach, a team photo divided into two stickers, and 15 player portrait stickers. An interesting feature of the album is that the players' career information is printed directly on the album, as typical for the Panini album of that time.

After the top division, the album moves directly to Ligue B, which was divided into two groups, Group A and Group B, each containing 10 clubs. Each club receives only two stickers: a shiny club badge and a team photograph. The album concludes with a final page dedicated to the Medal of Honour of the Swiss League, with no stickers. Also, there are no update sets or extras in this collection.

From a sporting perspective, the 1993/1994 Swiss championship was won by Servette, who claimed the national title after a successful campaign. The season’s top scorer was Giovane Élber, who finished with an impressive 21 goals. Interestingly, despite being the leading goalscorer of the tournament and later becoming a famous striker at clubs such as Bayern Munich, Élber is not included in the album. The collection nevertheless features several other talented young players, including Murat Yakin, Oliver Neuville, and Sonny Anderson.
