Österreich Fussball 92 is the fifth installment in Panini’s Austrian football series, following the editions of Fussball 83, Fussball 85, Fussball 87, and Österreich Fussball 91. Maintaining the same overall layout as its predecessor, this album provides a complete portrait of Austrian football for the 1991/1992 season, covering both the 1. Division and the 2. Division. The collection consists of 260 stickers, a balanced and consistent format that became typical of Panini’s Austrian issues from the early 1990s.
The album opens with a two-sticker introduction page, including the metallic sticker of the Bundesliga logo and trophy, followed by the section with the clubs of First Division. Each of the 12 top-flight clubs is featured with 18 stickers: a two-piece team photo and 16 players.
The club badge stickers of the First Division are collected in a two-page section under the title “Die Wappen der 1. Division”. These metallic emblems once again represent one of the most visually appealing parts of the collection, even though they are not integrated in the club pages.
The 2. Division is again treated more modestly, with 2.5 stickers per team — a half-sized badge and a two-part team photo. This structure keeps the focus on the 1. Division but still ensures that the second tier of Austrian football is represented within the same album.
The album ends with a page dedicated to the Argentinian star Mario Kempes in his last season in the Austrian league, after he played for First Vienna (1986-1987), St.Polten (1987-1990) and Kremser SC (1990-1992). This section has no sticker. However, there are four additional extra stickers with slogan that could be found in sticker packets, just as in the previous year’s release.
From a football perspective, the 1991/92 campaign saw FK Austria Wien claim the championship title, confirming their dominance in the domestic scene. The top scorer of the season was Christoph Westerthaler (FC Swarovski Tirol) with 17 goals, just one ahead of his teammate Peter Pacult and the Norwegia striker Jan Åge Fjørtoft (Rapid Wien).
