Panini Tour de France 2020

The second edition of the Panini Tour de France sticker album was released in 2020, following the success of the debut collection in 2019. As with the previous edition, the album celebrates the world’s most famous cycling race by featuring the 22 competing teams, special thematic sections, and an additional set of collectible cards. Unlike later editions, the 2020 version was not issued in a hardcover format.

The album opens with a contents page, followed by a set of thematic sections before the team presentations. These include a recap of the highlights of the 2019 Tour de France (4 stickers), a preview of the most iconic mountain passes in the 2020 edition (4 stickers), and an informative section with "Maillots, bonifications et points bonus" (4 stickers), which explains the significance of the race jerseys, time bonuses, and point systems.

Given that the 2020 Tour started in Nice, the album dedicates two double-page spreads to the host city: "Nice la belle" (2 stickers) focuses on the beauty of the city, while "Nice et le Tour de France" (2 stickers) traces its historical link with the race. This is followed by "Un Tour en France" (4 stickers), a section celebrating the geographical and cultural richness of the country through which the race passes.

The main core of the album is dedicated to the 22 teams taking part in the Tour de France 2020. As in the 2019 edition, each team is featured on two pages with a total of 16 stickers: the team photo (2 stickers) and 14 riders. All teams are included in the main release without the need for update stickers for late wild card entries, which is a notable difference from the previous year.

Towards the end of the album, there are two standout special features. One is "L’éternel Poulidor" (4 stickers), a heartfelt tribute to Raymond Poulidor, the legendary French cyclist known as the “eternal second,” who passed away in 2019. The other is "Insolites Tour de France" (8 stickers), a fun and quirky section showing unusual or curious moments from past editions of the race.

Alongside the sticker collection, there is also a set of 44 cards (T1–T44) that come in the same packs as the stickers. These cards include images of team jerseys and bike (T1-T22), and the 2020 Tour de France stages (T23-T44). Additionally, a separate update card set titled "Les Instantanés" was released, featuring 25 extra cards that chronicle stage and jersey winners of the 2020 race.

In total, the collection includes 384 stickers and 69 cards, offering a rich and varied look at the 2020 Tour de France both in terms of competition and context.

In the following, we show photos of the empty album and complete set, including stickers, cards, and the update set.

  1. The Tour De France is coming to Scotland soon. I am proud of that as a Scotsman.
