Panini released this sticker collection for the 1999/2000 season of the South African Premier League. The album includes 120 stickers featuring players from the 18 participating teams. It is a straightforward album with no bonus sections or inserts. The album begins with a foreword page, followed by the 18 teams presented in alphabetical order.
Each team is represented by six action-shot player stickers, with the exception of the two most prominent clubs—Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates—which are each allotted 12 stickers. There are no additional thematic sections or extras in the album.
South African football was on the rise in the late 1990s, a momentum that eventually led to the country hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In the 1999/2000 Premier League season, Mamelodi Sundowns clinched the title with 75 points, finishing ahead of major rivals Orlando Pirates (64 points) and Kaizer Chiefs (60 points). Siyabonga Nomvethe of Kaizer Chiefs was named Player of the Season. In 2001, he moved to Italy, where he played for Udinese, Salernitana, and Empoli.
Below, we present images of all the pages of the empty album followed by the full set of loose stickers.
