Panini Giro d'Italia 2017

Giro 100 is the first-ever sticker collection produced by Panini for the Giro d'Italia, the famous three-week cycling race that travels across Italy. The collection was released in 2017 to celebrate the 100th edition of the race.

The sticker album contains 392 stickers, including 12 update stickers featuring highlights from the competition. These update stickers were distributed in two special packets together with the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. In addition to the stickers, there are 22 collectible cards (one included in each packet), numbered C1–C22, showcasing the route and stages of the 2017 Giro. The collection also features 8 extra transparent stickers displaying the Giro’s logos and mascots.

The album begins with seven introductory pages, presenting the roll of honour, statistics, and nine stickers: the Giro d'Italia 100 logo, the four leader jerseys, the race mascot, the winner’s trophy, the Gazzetta dello Sport logo, and the map of the 100th edition's route.

Next, the 22 competing teams are displayed in alphabetical order, each over two pages. For every team, there are 16 stickers: the team photo, the team jersey (as a transparent sticker), and 14 individual rider portraits.

The final part of the album includes three special sections. The first section features the 12 update stickers, highlighting key moments of the race and celebrating the four final jersey winners: Tom Dumoulin (pink jersey), Fernando Gaviria (purple jersey), Bob Jungels (white jersey), Mikel Land (blue jersey).

The second special section is dedicated to the history of the pink jersey, with six stickers commemorating iconic maglia rosa winners between 1937 and 2009. The third and final section covers the history of the Giro d'Italia, illustrated with 13 stickers showing memorable newspaper front pages from 1927 to 2013.

The Dutch rider Tom Dumoulin won the 2017 Giro d'Italia, ahead of Vincenzo Nibali in second place and Nairo Quintana in third. Fernando Gaviria claimed the most stage victories, winning four stages in total.

Panini World Cup - Qatar 2022 - Oryx Edition

Panini released the official sticker collection for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar in four distinct versions: Standard edition, International edition, US Edition, and Oryx edition, which is also specifically known as the Swiss edition, the focus of this review.

These four editions are differentiated by their color schemes and the inclusion of extra or parallel sticker variations. The Swiss Oryx edition, easily recognizable by its distinctive purple color palette, comprises a total of 670 stickers designed for the album. Additionally, it features a dedicated update set containing 80 stickers, along with 20 extra stickers showcasing 14 legendary players and six promising rookies. Notably, these extra stickers are also available in parallel versions: gold, silver, and bronze.

The album's opening spread provides a two-page introduction adorned with eight key stickers: a striking golden Panini logo sticker, the official FIFA logo, a two-sticker depiction of the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy, two stickers featuring the official mascot, and two stickers showcasing the official tournament emblem. Following this introduction, the album transitions to the stadium section, dedicating two pages to each of the ten host stadiums and the official match ball sticker.

The subsequent team sections are organized according to the group stage draw. Each of the participating national teams is allocated two pages and represented by 20 stickers: a team photograph, a shiny federation logo sticker, and individual stickers for 18 players. This consistent format continues uninterrupted until the final team. The album concludes with a nostalgic section titled "The timeline of FIFA World Cup," featuring 11 golden stickers displaying the team photos of previous World Cup champions.

Unique to the Oryx (Swiss) edition is the aforementioned update set of 80 stickers (79 featuring new player additions and one Panini logo sticker). These stickers are presented on five sheets, each containing 16 stickers. It's important to note that the album itself does not include designated spaces for these update stickers, suggesting they are intended to be collected separately.
