In the season 1998/1999, Girondins de Bordeaux won the Division 1 title with just one point more than Marseille, winning the last decisive game of the season in Paris (PSG-Bordeaux=2-3). Bordeaux had certainly a strong team with Wiltord (top scorer of the league with 22 goals), Laslandes (15 goals) and Micoud, whereas Marseille could count on the strikers Maurice and Ravanelli (14 and 13 goals, respectively), and the defender Laurent Blanc.
The official sticker album of the season was published by Panini, being the 24th Panini Foot album (even if it says on the cover "23rd edition"), which makes it 23 years since the first album published in 1976. The collection starts with some introductory pages (foreword, contents and clubs details) without stickers. Then the 18 clubs of Division 1 are shown in alphabetical order with 21 stickers over two pages: the shiny badge, the team photo (two stickers) and 18 players. Player careers are printed on the sides. Division 2 follows immediately, with the schedule of the season and the 20 clubs shown in alphabetical order with three stickers on half page: the club badge (shiny) and the team photo (two stickers). A selection of the best players of Division 2 is included on the last four pages of the album, with 36 stickers of players and their careers. The album ends with no other section and the collection does not include any updates or extra (poster, additional stickers, etc.).
