Panini Foot 2002

In the summer 2001, the French Ligue 1 got all the football attention with the transfer of Ronaldinho from Gremio to PSG. The club based in Paris had a very competitive squad with Anelka, Heinze, Okocha, Pochettino. However, they got only the fourth place, eight points behind Lyon, who won the first of seven successive league titles. The Ligue 1 was decided in the final game of the season, when Lyon defeated Lens (3-1) closing the standing two points ahead (Lyon 66 , Lens 64 points).
The sticker collection Foot 2002 was the 27th consecutive albums released by Panini for the French football since the first album in 1976. Before the presentation of the clubs of Ligue 1, the albums includes a section with the "Flashback 2000-2001", when Nantes won their 8th Ligue 1 title. Their victory is celebrated with six shiny stickers. Ligue 1 clubs are shown in alphabetical order with 21 stickers over three pages: the shiny badge, the shiny team photo (two stickers) and 18 players. There are also three spots for transferred players. However, an official update transfer set for this collection was never released by Panini.

The Ligue 2 section starts with the calendar of the season. Then the 20 clubs are shown in alphabetical order from Ajaccio to Wasquehal, with four stickers per club: the shiny badge and three stickers of players including a total of 12 players. In Nice we find the sticker including the rookie player Patrice Evra. In connection with Foot 2002 there was also a "EA sports" poster with 12 stickers of International players. These are extra stickers not included in the packets Foot 2002.
