Liga 2002/2003 - Este

In the summer 2002, just after winning the World Cup, the Brazilian star Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid. He was a great addition to the team of Del Bosque that included also Figo, Cambiasso, Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Raul. Real Madrid won the Spanish Liga 2002/2003 but just with two points ahead of Real Zaragoza, the club of Xabi Alonso and Dario Kovacevic.
The official sticker collection of the league was produced by Colecciones Este, the 31st album since the season 1972/1973. The same year Panini published the unofficial album Superliga 2003. On the cover of the Este album we find the rookie Fernando Torres, who made his debut in the Liga after the promotion of Atletico Madrid from the Segunda Division at the end of the season 2001/2002. Torres scored 13 goals in his first season in the Liga. Top goalscorer was Roy Makaay (Deportivo La Coruna, 29 goals), second place for Ronaldo (23 goals). In the top ten there are also Kovacevic (20 goals), Raul (16 goals), Kluivert (16 goals) and Eto'o (14 goals).
The Este album begins with a page promoting 20 extra stickers "Cracks de la Liga" to be found in Nutella jars. The album continues with the table of contents followed by the 20 clubs presented in alphabetical order. This collection includes only stickers of players and managers, with no badges or team stickers. Each club has space for 16 stickers on the album, but as usual for the Este collections, it is possible to choose between two player stickers for some spots. Moreover, additional player stickers were released during the season (called "Bis" stickers). In the last pages of the album we find space for the new signings of the season ("Ultimos Fichajes"). This concept of new stickers released during the season is still present in the recent Este collections.
