Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol 2008 is Panini’s sticker collection dedicated to the Ecuadorian Serie A for the 2008 season. Released two years after the first Ecuadorian league album published by Panini in 2006, this collection continued the company’s presence in the country before the first chapter of the series produced in 2012. With a total of 268 stickers, the album presents a colourful and energetic overview of Ecuadorian club football during the late 2000s.
One of the most striking aspects is the original cover design, which features the supporters of the 12 participating clubs, emphasizing the passion and atmosphere surrounding Ecuadorian football. The album opens with an introductory page containing the league’s roll of honour together with four metallic stickers. These depict the logo of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, the league trophy, the official match ball, and the official logo of the album, represented by a stylized football player in action who also appears on the cover artwork.
Following the introduction, Panini dedicates a double-page spread to the presentation of the 12 Serie A clubs, each represented through a team photo sticker. Each of the 12 teams is then presented over two pages with a total of 17 stickers per club. The layout includes the metallic club badge, the metallic home shirt, and 15 player stickers showing footballers in action rather than in traditional portrait format.
The final section of the album is titled “Las Figuras” and is dedicated to some of the league’s standout players. This section contains 36 stickers representing 12 featured footballers, each composed of a vertical three-sticker sequence that forms a larger action image.
Apart from this concluding section, the album does not include further thematic inserts, update sets, or extra cards. The structure remains relatively compact and straightforward, focusing almost entirely on the clubs and players of the Ecuadorian championship.
From a sporting perspective, the 2008 Ecuadorian Serie A season ended with Deportivo Quito winning the national title, the third championship in the club’s history. The league’s top scorer was Pablo Palacios of Barcelona Sporting Club, who finished the season with 20 goals and established himself as one of the most prolific forwards of the tournament.
Overall, Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol 2008 is a lively and visually distinctive collection that captures the atmosphere of Ecuadorian football at the time. The album features thick paper pages — a level of quality that is uncommon in modern sticker albums — bringing back the feel of classic Panini football albums.
