Foot 98 is the 23rd Panini album of the French football since the first edition in 1976 (even if the cover states "22nd edition"). The album includes all the teams of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. The special feature of this collection is that there is a section with the best European clubs, including stickers of badges, teams, and players.
After an introduction without stickers, the album shows first the Ligue 1 clubs in alphabetical order. For each club there are 19 stickers over two pages: the shiny badge, the team photo (two stickers) and 16 players. All player careers are also included in the club pages.
The clubs of Ligue 2 are shown immediately after the Ligue 1. For them there are three stickers: the shiny badge and two stickers to complete the team photo.
At the end of the album we find eight of the best European clubs in the 1997/1998 season: Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Juventus, Milan, Porto, and Real Madrid. Each club is displaced on one page with six stickers: the shiny badge, the team photo (two stickers) and three players. In this way, the collection includes the stickers of some of the best International players of the season, like Zidane (1998 World Cup winner with France), Ronaldo (1998 UEFA Cup winner with Inter), and Roberto Carlos (1998 Champions League winner with Real Madrid). In France, Lens won the Ligue 1 for the first time in their history, ending the tournament with the same points of Metz, but winning by goal difference.

The striker Stéphane Guivarc'h was the top scorer of the 1997/98 Ligue 1 with 21 goals. The young Ludovic Giuly (21 years old) started the season with Lyon and moved to Monaco in January 1998.
