Panini Football 1972-73 (Belgium)

Football 1972-73 is the first album released by Panini for a foreign league. Apart from the Belgian leagues (First and Second Division), this collection includes a large section of almost 100 stickers dedicated to the International football. Most of these stickers are badges of football clubs from Europe and South America. This album is the first of a long and uninterrupted series of Panini Belgian league albums that it is still ongoing.
Panini proceeded with its expansion abroad in the following years, with the first league albums of France (1976), England (1978), the Netherlands (1978), Germany (1979), and Switzerland (1979).

The album Football 1972/73 opens with a foreword of Paul van Himst and the table of contents, followed by an introductory page of six stickers: FIFA logo, Belgian Football Association badge, UEFA logo, Raymond Goethals (coach of the National Team), and Paul van Himst (player of the National Team).

The 16 clubs of the First Division are shown in alphabetical order, starting from Anderlecht. Each club features 15 stickers: club badge, team photo, and 13 players. Under each player there's a short biography printed on the album.

Clubs of Second Division are also included, but only with the badge sticker. These 16 badge stickers are displaced over two pages.

The large section dedicated to the International football starts with 46 badge stickers of big European clubs, followed by 14 badge stickers of the major South American clubs. This is a magnificent overview of the International football at the beginning of the seventies.

"Vedettes mondiales" includes 30 stickers of the best football players in 1972. Here we find stickers of unforgettable players like Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, Bobby Charlton, Pelé, George Best, Giacinto Facchetti, Johann Cruyff, Eusebio.

Last page of the album shows eight stickers of the International trophies of that period: World Cup, Euro Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Champions League Cup, Cup Winners' Cup, UEFA Cup, Mitropa Cup, and Belgian Cup.
