Panini World Cup 2010 - South Africa

Panini South Africa 2010 has a similar structure of previous Panini World Cup albums, with introductory stickers, stadiums and teams divided by groups. As usual on the front cover there are the flags of the participating teams and on the back cover the map of the hosting country with the cities involved in the competition. In this album all the teams have a double page with 19 stickers and there are no teams with a single page (and less stickers).
In the introductory pages there are 7 shining stickers: Fifa fair play, Panini Calciatori stamp, the trophy, the ball and the logos of the competition. Stadium pages have 24 stickers: the 10 stadiums (double sticker), the mascot, the poster and "ke nano" sticker.

Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Hosting team of South Africa did not manage to pass the group stage, but it performed a good tournament collecting four points. Here we find some Premier League players (like Pienaar, McCarthy). Mexico won the group defeating France 2-0 with talented players as Javier Hernandez and Carlos Vela. Uruguay reached the semifinals with the fantastic trio Cavani-Suarez-Forlan. Disappointing tournament for France, out in the group stage.

Uruguay "trio": Cavani, Suarez and Forlan

Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, South Korea, Greece
In the Argentinian team there is a long list of great players: Higuain, Messi, Aguero, Milito, Tevez, Veron, Mascherano, Di Maria, Zanetti...however, in the quarter-finals they were kicked out by Germany. Nigeria includes the sticker of the old Nwankwo Kanu, (ex Inter and Arsenal) and Korea the Manchester Utd player Park-Ji-Sung.

Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
England and USA passed the group stage, but were both eliminated in the first knockout stage. England has legendary players as Beckham, Lampard and Gerrard, together with younger boys like Walcott and Lennon. Panini has no right to show the symbol of the English football association, therefore all the stickers of players and the logo of England are edited.

Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia and Ghana
Germany has a young team that reached the semifinals. One of the main protagonists, Thomas Muller, is not included in the base set. Ghana got the second place in the group and almost reached the semifinals, but it was eliminated by Uruguay at penalties. Here we have the stickers of Asamoah Gyan, Ayew, Muntari, Essien.

Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Camerun
Great tournamente for the Netherlands, which reached the final with amazing performances of Robben and Sneijder. Denmark includes Bendtner and Tomasson, Japan has Honda and Nagatomo, Camerun shows the stickers of Samuel Eto'o and Alexandre Song.

Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Terrible tournament for Italy, that played with an old and exhausted team. Excellent first time in the World Cup for New Zealand; they managed to draw three times, so they left the competition unbeaten.

Group G: Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Coast, Portugal
Brazil includes many big stars: Ronaldinho, Robinho, Luis Fabiano, Adriano, Kakà...but they were out in the quarter-finals like Argentina. Portugal of Cristiano Ronaldo got the second place of the group, but found Spain on its way and lost 1-0.

Group E: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile
World Cup winners of Spain had a great team with a solid defense. Casillas, Iniesta and David Villa were the most crucial players. Honduras includes the sticker of David Suazo (ex Inter and Milan) and Chile has Alexis Sanchez (now at Barcelona) and Vidal (now at Juventus).

Last page of the album shows the calendar and includes the last sticker (at the bottom right corner), the world cup!
