Panini Apertura 2006 (Argentina)

The Argentine Apertura tournament 2006 started in August 2006 and finished in December of the same year, opening the football season 2006/07, completed by the Clausura tournament in early 2007. Estudiantes and Boca Juniors ended the Apertura 2006 at the first place with the same points. A play-off game to decide the winner was played at the Velez Sarsfield Stadium on December 13, 2006. Estudiantes won the game 2-1. Palermo scored for Boca after 5 minutes, but Sosa and Pavone reversed the game in the second half.

Panini published two separate albums for the Apertura 2006 and the Clausura 2007 tournaments, whereas no album was published for the previous Clausura 2006. We present here the album and complete set of Panini Apertura 2006, which is the third Panini album of the Argentine football, after Clausura 2005 and Apertura 2005. The collection is composed by a total of 300 stickers of the 20 competing clubs and by 128 extra disc cards of players and badges called Super Redonda. The album opens with the fixture of the season and four stickers with the best placed teams in the Clausura 2006: Boca Juniors (1st), Lanus (2nd), River Plate (3rd) and Gimnasia (4th).

The albums shows then the 20 competing teams. For the most representative six clubs there are 19 stickers over three pages: the metallic badge, the kits, and 17 players. For the remaining 14 clubs, there are only 13 stickers (badge, kits and 11 players). Player stickers include the photo in action and the player portrait with the club colours in the background.

Super Redonda are circular cards released with the Apertura 2006 collection. There are in total 132 cards: 20 club badges, seven "redondas" for the main six clubs and five "redondas" for the other clubs.
