In the season 1996/1997, the German football continued its magic moment. After the victory at Euro 1996 and the Ballon d'Or for Matthias Sammer, two German clubs won the European Cups 1997: Borussia Dortmund defetead Juventus in the Champions League final (3-1) and Schalke won the UEFA Cup at penalties against Inter.
The official sticker collection of the German football was realesed by Panini with the album Fussball 97, which focuses on the Bundesliga, but it includes also a section dedicated to the German National Team that won the Euro Cup in 1996.
The album begins with the contents and an introductory page including the celebratory stickers of the winners 1996: Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) and Bayern Munchen (UEFA Cup). Then the 18 Bundesliga clubs are shown following the classification order of the previsous season. For each club there are 25 or 26 stickers over six pages. The difference is in the first page, which includes the shiny club badge and the team photo stickers for all the clubs, but the supporters sticker only for 11 clubs. The following three pages include 18 player portrait stickers, whereas in the last two pages there are five shiny stickers of players in action together with statistics of the club.
In the center of the album there is a two page section about the German victory at Euro 1996 (Deutschland Europameister). Here we find 10 stickers (out of which seven are shiny) of the final. The album continues with the second part of the Bundesliga clubs and it ends with a page about the top 300 Bundesliga goalscorers of the century (Ewige Torjager Top-300), with two stickers: Bobic and Klinsmann in action.
