UEFA Champions League 2007–2008 is one of the early modern Panini collections dedicated exclusively to Europe’s premier club competition, the UEFA Champions League. After Panini had launched the Champions League series in the 1999/2000 season and then interrupted it after only three editions, the collection returned with Champions of Europe in 2005 and then with a Champions League album in 2006/07. The 2007/08 edition expanded on that comeback, featuring the 32 qualified clubs with a total of 552 stickers.
The album opens with an introductory section featuring four stickers on the first page, including the famous Champions League trophy and the official match ball. On the following page, four additional stickers continue the introduction: two are dedicated to the defending champions AC Milan, one celebrates the FIFA Fair Play values, and the last one is dedicated to the final venue of the tournament, Luzhniki Stadium, where the 2008 final took place.
The presentation of the teams follows the alphabetical order, starting with AC Milan. Each of the 32 teams is allocated 17 stickers, following a very clean and classic Panini structure: one silver club badge sticker and sixteen player portrait stickers. Compared to more modern collections filled with action shots and special subsets, the focus here is strongly centered on the squads themselves, giving the album a traditional and highly organized feel.
After all the teams have been presented, the album concludes with a retrospective section dedicated to the history of Champions League finals since the year 2000. This final segment contains only printed images and no stickers, serving as a visual celebration of the recent history of the competition and linking the current tournament to its immediate past. The collection does not contain update sets or extra stickers/cards.
From a sporting perspective, the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final became one of the most memorable finals of the era. Manchester United F.C. defeated Chelsea F.C. in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw, securing their third European Cup title. The final is especially remembered for the rain-soaked conditions in Moscow and the decisive missed penalty by John Terry.
