Fussball 89 is the official sticker collection of the Austrian football for the season 1988/1989. For the first (and last) time, the collection was produced by Euroflash, continuing the series that Panini left with the album Fussball 87. Panini will resume the series with the album Fussball 91.
The collection includes both the Bundesliga and the 2.Liga with a small section about the National team in the centre of the album. After an introduction with the fixtures of the season and the foreword of Hans Reitinger, vice-president of the OFB, the 12 Bundesliga clubs are shown in alphabetical order. For each club there are 19 stickers over two pages: the metallic club badge, the team photo (two stickers), and 16 players.
In the middle of the album there are two pages about the National team, with a total of 12 stickers. There is a large photo composed by 8 stickers of the Prater stadium in Wien where Austria play their game at home. Then the team is presented with the team photo (two stickers), the captain in action, and the word "Tor" (=goal).
The album resumes with the second part of the Bundesliga clubs and it ends with the 2.Liga section. For each of the 12 teams there are three stickers: the metallic club badge and the team photo (two stickers).
In the season 1988/89, Swarovski Tirol won the Bundesliga, counting on the goals of the topscorer Peter Pachult (26 goals). The collection includes some Austrian football stars of the period (Andreas Herzog, Michael Konsel) and the Argentinian striker Mario Kempes, who played in Austria from 1986 to 1990.
