"Sao Paulo Historico" is a sticker collection dedicated to Sao Paulo Futebol Clube from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It includes the history and the main achievements of the club. This collection released in 2012 was followed by other albums of Brazilian clubs (e.g. Santos, Palmeiras or Corinthians) published by Panini in the following years.
After an introduction with the contents of the album, the collection goes through the history of the club, from the beginnings to the most recent days. In the following we show pictures of the album with description of each section.
Introduction (2 stickers)
The introduction shows all the sections of the album with the first two stickers: the mascot (PVC sticker) and the stadium (metallic sticker).
Como tudo comoçou (9 stickers)
This first section goes over the first years of Sao Paulo Futebol Clube, which was founded on January 26, 1930. We find the stickers of the first stadium, the first games, and the first uniform (PVC sticker), which was the result of the union of two pre-existing clubs.
A moeda caiu em pé (6 stickers) and Rolo compressor (7 stickers)
Sao Paulo won the first title with the 1943 Paulistao, followed by more titles in 1945, 1946, 1948 and 1949. With the fifth title they earned the trophy.
A saga do Morumbi (12 stickers) and Inauguraçao parcial (11 stickers)
In the 50s, the club started building a stadium for 100'000 people, the Morumbi. Finally on October 2, 1960, Sao Paulo played the first game in the new stadium, a friendly game against Sporting.
Campeao fora dos gramados (4 stickers) and Fim do Jejum (7 stickers)
Sao Paulo was not only a football clubs. They formed athlets in many sports: athletics, boxe, hockey, baseball. In this section we find the stickers of four champions: Maurren Maggi, Jose Joao da Silva, Adhemar Ferreira da Silva, and Eder Jofre.
In the 70s the football club won more trophies, with the Paulistao titles in 1970, 1971 and 1975.
O Brasil è nosso! (6 stickers) and Tricolaço (3 stickers)
Sao Paulo won the first Brasileiro title in 1977, defeating Atletico-MG in the final in front of more than 100'000 people in the Mineirao stadium. In this victory at penalties, the hero was the goalkeeper Waldir Peres. The club won also the Paulistao in 1980 and 1981.
Bi-Nacional (6 stickers) and Tri-Nacional (6 stickers)
Sao Paulo won their second and third Campeonato Brasileiro in 1986 and 1991. In 1986 they won the final against Guarani with a decisive goal of Careca. In 1991 the captain of the team was Raì. The revelation of the team was the young Leonardo, who moved to Valencia in the same year.
Pé quentissimo (10 stickers)
The coach Telé Santana played a major role in building a strong team in the 90's. With him Zetti (goalkeeper), Raì, Cafu, Sidnei and Muller became players of international value.
Dono da America (9 stickers)
With the coach Santana, Sao Paulo conquered the South America, winning the 1992 Copa Libertadores against Newell's Old Boys and again the 1993 Libertadores against Universidad Catolica. In 1994, they lost the final against Velez Sarsfield at penalties.
O Mundo é tricolor 2 anos seguidos (11 stickers)
The two victories in the Libertadores were followed by two victories in the Intercontinental Cup. On December 13, 1992, they won 2-1 against Barcelona in Tokyo, defeating the dream team of Crujiff. And in 1993 they got a second historical victory defeating AC Milan (3-2) with the goals of Palhinha, Cerezo, and Muller.
O mito (4 stickers) and Galeria completa (7 stickers)
Rogerio Ceni is the legendary Sao Paulo goalkeeper, who wore the same colors for more than 20 years.
The 90's were the golden age for Sao Paulo. They won more titles with the 1994 Copa Conmebol, the 1993 Supercopa, the 1993 and 1994 Recopa Sul-americana and the 1996 Copa Master da Conmebol.
O gigante em reformulaçao (6 stickers) and Rio Sao Paulo (6 stickers)
In the second part of the 90's, Sao Paulo won only the 1998 Paulistao. The years 2000 started with another Paulistao title and the rising star Kakà, who moved to AC Milan in 2003
Um ano perfeito - parte 1 (13 stickers) -parte 2 (13 stickers)
2005 was the perfect year for Sao Paulo. They won the Paulistao, the Libertadores and the Club World Cup. After winning the Libertadores defeating Atletico Paranaense in the final, they qualified for the Club World Cup in Japan, where they won the final against Liverpool (1-0) with a goal of Mineiro. The big names of that team were Rogerio Ceni, Junior, Lugano, Amoroso, and Luis Fabiano.
Soberano (12 stickers)
After winning the World Cup in 2005, Sao Paulo dominated in Brazil, with three consecutive titles in the Brasileirao (2006, 2007, 2008). Miranda, Lucio, Hernanes were some of the important players in these victories.
Ampliando os horizontes (11 stickers)
Since the 80's, the club invested on improving the stadium and the facilities for the team and the supporters, like training centers, shops and restaurants in the Morumbi stadium.
Explode, torcida! (6 stickers)
The last section of the album is dedicated to the supporters, the 12th player for the team!
